How to Pray for People Affected by Disaster

When a disaster occurs in a distant place or here at home, one of the best things we can do is pray for those who are affected.

Here are some suggestions for how you can pray for people affected by disaster...

Pray that those who are directly affected will find the help and hope they need.

Pray that disaster-response groups will work well together in a way that will save lives and enable people to recover from the disaster as quickly as possible.

Pray that community and political leaders will do all they can to work in the best interests of those who need help.

Pray that the church and her leaders in the disaster area will be able to reach out in compassion and love to others affected in their communtie.

Pray that recovery efforst will not be hindered by the difficulties and chaos that often happen after a disaster takes place.

Pray that we may find and address the causes of many disasters in our world- poverty, environmental distress, conflict, sin.

Pray for all that may have died in the disaster, for those who mourn, and for those who may have been injured.

Pray that people will give generously to help those affected by the disaster.
